Food Program
The Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program administered by the Department of Social Services. CACFP at TCCI provides nutritious meals and snacks to infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children each day. Prepared in TCCI’s kitchens, these meals emphasize fresh fruits and vegetables with limited salt and saturated fats. Annually, the program serves more than 225,000 free breakfasts, lunches and snacks to eligible enrolled children.
All meals are served in a family style setting. Teachers sit with children during their meals and act as role models for appropriate meal time behavior and sociability, while encouraging children to try both familiar and unfamiliar foods. Meal time also provides opportunities for children to learn about food groups and key concepts such as colors, shapes, flavors, sizes, and textures.
