Anitha T. Mitchell, M.D.
Board President
Dr. Mitchell is a native Texan. She attended the University of Texas in Galveston and completed post-graduate training at UCLA. She is married with two adult children. Dr. Mitchell is a life-long champion for the rights of the poor and under-served across all age groups. She is especially interested in the well-being of young children and helping them reach their full potential.
Anjetta Bowles
Board Treasurer
Anjetta Venters-Bowles has 40 years of experience managing, leading, and evaluating organizations providing service to the public. As an executive in both California State and local government, she led teams that implemented several legislative and innovative programs including: The Parent’s Fair Share Program, State Disability Insurance (SDI); SDI conversion from in-person services to Call Centers; and the Los Angeles County Affordable Care Act. Anjetta was previously the Assistant Director (AD) of the Bureau of Workforce Development, L.A. County, Department of Public Social Services. As the AD, she was responsible for over 10,000 LA County employees who provide direct services to over 10 million residents a year. offices located throughout Los Angeles County.
Prior to working for the County, Anjetta was the Area Administrator for the State of California, Employment Development Department (EDD), Disability Insurance Branch. As a mid-level executive with the EDD Job Service Branch, she implemented the Youth Employment Opportunity Program and for the EDD Unemployment Insurance (UI) Branch, the UI Call Center in Orange County. Anjetta worked as a lead Internal Auditor and Investigator for over 12 years. In all of her assignments, Anjetta utilized skill sets acquired from her Bachelor of Science degree (Accounting concentration) from the University of the Pacific and the Master’s in Business Administration program at CSULA.
She is active in her local community through her involvement in non-profit organizations seeking to develop opportunities for children and the underserved. In this arena, she has served as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for two companies as well as Program Lead in several organizations providing direct services to targeted groups.Stephanie Hancock

Stephanie Hancock, MAIOP is a Human Resources Professional with over 15 years of experience working in a variety of industries. Currently, she is a People and Culture Business Partner at an international tech company based in the Los Angeles area. Stephanie also specializes in Professional Development. She is the Owner of Career Rise, LLC, a company that supports individuals’ professional trajectories.
She is a certified DISC Consultant and Trainer, Real Colors Facilitator, and a certified John Maxwell Speaker, Trainer, and Coach. Stephanie is an alumnus of the University of La Verne where she earned her Bachelor’s in Organizational Management and Leadership; and Touro University where she earned her Master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Stephanie is inspired daily by her three adult children and is passionate about helping all children become lifelong learners.
Carla Murphy
Board Secretary
Carla Murphy is currently employed with The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, where she has served for the past five years as a Program Manager in the Division of HIV and STD Programs. She is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and day to day management of partnerships with community-based organizations.
Ms. Murphy brings to the Board over ten years’ experience managing non-profit community programs in a range of service areas including: Case Management, Education, Gang Intervention, Recreation, Senior Services, and Housing Assistance Programs. She has commensurate experience developing and implementing Medicaid start-up operations and managing health services contracts including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Healthy Kids, Healthy Families and IHSS programs.
Ms. Murphy was the first Program Manager for the Rita D. Walters Learning Complex, serving in that capacity for four years. She is delighted to give back to the community by joining the Board of The Children’s Collective, Inc.
Ernesto Solis
Board Member
In 1998, Ernesto began working as a Territory Business Manager for Bristol-Myers Squibb Inc. in Los Angeles. During his 8-year tenure, he successfully launched and promoted several cardiovascular and diabetic products for this Fortune 500 Company and was promoted to Senior Territory Business Manager. He developed an interest in the electrical activity of the heart that led him to his next career opportunity with a privately held corporation, Biotronik Inc. During his 13-year career as a Senior Clinical Specialist, his job duties consisted of promoting and servicing various cardiovascular implantable devices to a customer base that included Electrophysiologists and Cardiologist in the Los Angeles Area.
Over the past 15 years, Ernesto's involvement in various entrepreneurial projects includes opening and closing a Quizno's restaurant franchise, managing and touring with a Latin Pop Rock group, and more recently, working as a licensed Broker for residential real estate and mortgages. As a Broker, he manages the daily operations of Ernest&Cooper Realty, including supervising agents, developing marketing strategies, and overseeing finances. He has been able to implement many of the skills he has learned working for two Fortune 500 companies and a privately held one.
Ernesto earned a bachelor's degree in business with an emphasis in Financial Management at California State University Long Beach and an MBA from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. Ernesto resigned as a Senior Field Clinical Specialist for Fortune 500 Company Medtronic Inc to focus on retail and industrial real estate in the Los Angeles market.
